Frank Hyder’s exhibition, “An Amazon Tale,” is on display at the Ethan Cohen Gallery within the KuBe Art Center in Beacon, New York, from October 19, 2024, to January 20, 2025.
This collection features seven acrylic paintings intricately carved into wood, portraying Amazonian portraits and landscapes. Inspired by Hyder’s experiences in Venezuela between 1990 and 2000, each piece reflects the interplay between humanity and nature. Hyder’s technique involves drawing directly onto wood, followed by simultaneous painting and carving, adding and removing color until the desired effect is achieved. The artworks explore themes of modernity versus simplicity, using color and form to bridge these worlds.
Visitors are invited to explore “An Amazon Tale” and other exhibitions at the 123,000-square-foot KuBe Art Center campus, home to the Ethan Cohen Gallery.
