Holter Museum of Art presents “Off the Wall: Frank Hyder Pop-Up Exhibition”
August 9-11, 2024 / Artist Reception August 9th, 6-8 pm / Artist Talk at 6:30 pm
The Holter Museum of Art is piloting a new endeavor – pop-up exhibits that are short in duration but long on visual impact. The first pop-up exhibit will debut with artist, Frank Hyder, hailing from Miami, FL. Three large inflatable sculptures will be installed on the east side lawn of the Holter, including a 30-foot-tall whale. Along with the inflatable sculptures, four large banner paintings will be viewable from the front of the museum in all of the Weigand Center for Creativity windows and the Aquarium Gallery window. Meant to be viewed from all sides, Off the Wall is truly that.
Off the Wall will be free to the public for its three-day installation. The artist will be on hand to engage and talk with on Friday and Saturday of the exhibit, with a not-to-be-missed artist talk on Friday night that Hyder ensures will be “entertaining” and a robust lecture about his mentors and inspirations – George Catlin, James Audubon, Paul Gaugin and Diego Rivera. He will also describe his role as an itinerate artist and the important role of itinerant artists and their art in society.
